Welcome to
our world

Our names are Karen Firlotte, and Kelly Reilly. We
have been friends for many years, Karen living in St. Stephen New
Brunswick, and Kelly living about 20 minutes away in Calais Maine. Living
so close together has given us the opportunity to work together with
our Miniature Australian Shepherds since 1997 and explore the world of pure
bred dogs.
In 2004, after attending many dog shows and spending
hours and hours of research we became interested in the Long Coat
Chihuahua!! We wanted something small enough that transport would be
easy to take to dog shows, they would be wonderful companions, have
minimal health issues, and could still do many of the things that our
Aussie could do!! These little ones fit the bill!. They have proved
to be all that we wanted to add to our dog world and more. The other
thing that we did discover is that the smooth coat Chihuahua also has all
those attributes as well.
And so
our story begins

The first Chihuahua to come into our lives was
Shinybrooks Just for Kix,
better known as Kix, Mr, and other things that are not all that fancy.
Kix was bred by long time breeder Nancy Shonbeck from New Hampshire.
We are very thankful to Nancy for the opportunity to own Kix as he was the
first Chihuahua that we have finished a Canadian Championship on, and he is
also my husbands very best couch buddy in the evening. Something
every man needs. Kix came home to live with me, Karen, in May of
2006. He went to work with me everyday for the first few months, and
when we would go down town, people would call out to him, having met him at
my work. He became a very popular little boy.
Later that year we started his show training and career.
He took his first points in November at the Moncton Kennel club show.
From there we continued on and by the end of 2007 Kix had made us all
really proud as he had finished his Championship and proven to us that he
was all that we had expected him to be.
Later that first year we realized that we would need to
start researching for our first female so we could put our Chihuahua
breeding program to the for front.
We contacted many breeders and finally found what we
wanted out of Lori Edmons Kennel in Alberta. Lori was very busy
at the time with a new job, and so she entrusted me with a beautiful little
smooth coat female that she felt was worthy of helping me get started
in the right direction. Her name is

Lalynns Carman
and she has become a beloved family member as well as
the dam to our first home bred litter in 2007.
