Having an Irish Setter growing up and currently having had a few in my house I love the temperament of the Sporting Breeds. English Cocker Spaniels have always held
an interest for me and over the years I have watched them at shows, talked to breeders and read what I could on them. In 2008 I finally decided to take the plunge and contact a few breeders in hopes of locating a show quality blue roan female puppy to begin my adventures in ECS. I wanted a blue roan as over the years I had developed a fondness of them, although now I love all the colours. Pam Lefever of Brasswind Kennels replied to my query letting me know she had a couple of litters coming up and if there was something that fit what I was looking for she would let me know. Well as they say the rest is history as she had what I was looking for and Peyton joined my home here at Kaltoba beginning of May 2008.
Peyton is a very happy and fun loving dog, and gives new meaning to the term “cuddler”. I wasn’t sure at first if the Smooth Fox Terriers might be too much for the
ECS to handle, but Peyton has shown me not only to they get along but that the ECS can be a bit bossy with the Terriers. Peyton has developed a bond with my Irish Setter and the two of them do everything together. Peyton has completely sold and endeared me to the breed and when she does something wrong and you scold her looking into those ECS eyes your heart just melts and you forget what you were mad about. Very cunning of her I think!!
Peyton has been out to two show weekends at the end of 2008 and we look forward to completing her Canadian Championship and working on obtaining her American Championship in 2009 and as the saying goes you just can’t have one – so look for a new addition at Kaltoba in 2009.
