I am pleased to be able to tell you about the retriever training services available for Field Trial, Hunt Test and Gun Dog enthusiasts!
John Clarke Retriever Training provides the best retriever training program available anywhere. Limited numbers are accepted, so you can be sure your retriever will benefit from a high degree of individual attention.
Our success rate is very good in both Field Trials and Hunt Tests and many of our trained retrievers will have a fantastic waterfowl and upland-hunting season this year. We have successfully trained Labrador retrievers, Golden retrievers, Chesapeake Bay retrievers and Flat Coated retrievers.
Complete retriever training programs are offered for field trials, hunt tests, water fowling and upland hunting. Field Trial and Hunt Test handling is also available throughout the year in AKC, CKC, HRC and NAHRA events.
Retrievers are accepted for training year round subject to available space. A waiting list is maintained for the occasions when demand exceeds available space. Winter training is generally the busiest time of the year so advance booking to secure your training space is recommended.
Retriever training is provided through several programs designed to meet your training goals and to maximize your retrievers natural abilities.

Tracking Dog
Customized training is also available for you and your retriever. A program can be developed to resolve a specific training issue, retriever behavioral problem or to teach a specialized skill such as scent tracking, silent commands or advanced obedience.
Regardless of the training program you select, all
retrievers are provided with the following included in their monthly
training fees:
- Personal Training Plan
- Purina ProPlan Adult feed
- Training Birds
- Boarding
- Vet trips (cost of medication and vet fees are extra)
- Airport pickup and drop off (airline cargo fees are extra)
- Weekly grooming (includes brushing coat, trim nails, baths as required, ear cleaning, brush teeth if dog will allow)
- Appropriate
dental chews
Training Fees -
Monthly training fees are paid in advance and due on the 1st day of the
month. For new clients, once your first month of training is
completed, the necessary adjustments will be made to move your billing
date to the first of the month.
Training
Commitment - There is no minimum
training commitment time.
After an appropriate evaluation
period of your retriever and careful consideration of your goals, you will be
advised of a time range and a training plan that would be appropriate to
reach your goals.
Updates - During training, you will be provided with regular written updates to allow you to measure progress and monitor any issues that are uncovered. More frequent updates can be provided if you call.
Training Plan - In fairness, all that is asked
is that once a training plan is developed and agreed upon, that you stay
with the full plan before you expect to see the desired results.
