Glooscap Kennel Club History
How it all began.....
On a typical cold Nova Scotia New Year's Day in 1979, Marjorie & Gary Ross visited with Pat & Joost Postma in Upper Burlington in Hants County, to discuss the possibility of starting a local kennel club...
Three weeks later and information meeting was held in the town of Windsor, N. S., under the supervision of Flora MacKenzie, who was then C. K. C. Director for Nova Scotia.
A committee was formed and immediately met to draw up a constitution. A week later the final draft was ready for presentation to the club. Our very first meeting was then scheduled for February 26, 1979, but was postponed due to freezing rain!
Finally, on March 5, 1979, we had our first meeting and elected our inaugural executive:

The Glooscap Kennel Club has been active in the community of Windsor and surrounding areas since the beginning. Right from the very start our programs have included obedience classes, sponsoring a family at Christmas, visitation at the Seniors Homes and various fund raising projects. We've supported the 4-H programs with donations of trophies, and our members help with judging classes, conduct workshops on training, handling and grooming.
The Glooscap Hot Dogs have also been an integral part of the Club for many years and are in BIG demand to perform freestyle agility entertainment shows and demos at various community events throughout the years. Our club members participate in many different dog shows & trials, from conformation and obedience to agility and flyball.
Our Club motto is: "Enjoying our dogs".....and that is what Glooscap is all about! If you are interested in joining a club dedicated to enjoying various dog related activities, then this may be the spot for you! Click here for a membership application!
