About Us

The Doberman has always been my breed of choice. As a teenager, I constantly asked for one and was denied! Once out on my own, it wasn’t long before I made plans to own one.Doberman Pup

My husband and I purchased our first Doberman, a red female, in 1979 . "Tevah" would become the first of several Dobermans to share our home and hearts over the years. She was not a "show" dog and after earning a C.D. retired to being a couch potato! We then became interested in showing and purchased another red female to take us down that path. We have shown and bred on a very limited basis since 1981 .

My husband Brian, my daughter Erin and I share our home with three Dobermans. Photos of all of them can be found on this site. “Edelmar” is a hobby kennel and our main focus is showing and enjoying the dogs. We breed rarely. Our dogs all live in our house and are family members. We are all members of our local all-breed club (The Dartmouth Kennel Club). I am President of this club and President of the Brian's bikeDoberman Pinscher Club of Canada .I am also a member of the DPCA, the CKC and the CMTC (Canadian Manchester Terrier Club).

Brian helps out with the dogs, but his favorite hobbies are curling and his 1947 Indian Motocycle Of course he enjoys an occasional round of golf as well! Not often seen at the shows, he is a world-class dog-sitter and advice giver.

We also co-own BIS Ch.Trymine's Joint Custody CD TT with Mary Trainor. Nika was #4 Doberman in 2005 and produced a litter of four puppies in 2006.

Erin & Setter

Erin enjoys the shows and showed Nika for us as a special. Erin is an Audit Officer for the Department of Education. She enjoyed success in Junior Handling and twice represented Nova Scotia in the National Competition. Since then she has shown and put championships on several breeds of dogs. She is interested in English Setters and will soon have one of her own.

Although we do not breed Manchesters, we have a soft spot for them as well. We shared our home for 16 years with “Darcy” Ch. Fwaggles Justice At Edelmar.

Puppies are rarely available, but we do plan a spring 2008 litter.
